I know. I mean the I know the part about you not being critical, not the part about them not being poor, I am pretty sure some of them were poor, I have many poor ideas. It's part of my process.
I was just trying to figure out how you'd test your enemy's sword while it was in his hand. I don't even use a sword anymore and I still forgot not everyone uses them.
Swords are not entirely uncommon within the shinobi ranks — I used one during my time with ANBU. It is not a poor assumption to make. Being familiar and comfortable with a wide array of weapons is something many strive for.
Additionally, there is every likelihood we will encounter individuals in various worlds that do use swords and perhaps poison as well.
I'll still mess around with the idea. It can definitely serve a purpose.
Cultivators only use swords or cultivation. And archery I suppose. Anything else is unacceptable. Cultivators expect that everyone will play by their rules and fight fair. Throwing knives and needles, they exist, but they're looked down on.
When I stopped carrying my sword I couldn't walk 10 feet without someone having a fit over it.
I'm pretty sure the lack of foresight, preparedness, and inefficiency would cause you physical pain.
It doesn't exist for them either. They're all hypocrites. They hire their assassins in secret and preach righteousness to the world in the same breath. They didn't condemn my demonic cultivation until after I had won a war for them. They were happy enough to let me fight on their side until it was over and they remembered their righteousness. Your world sounds far more honest.
Human nature is the same regardless of where you are. People are petty and cruel and care more about themselves and their station and their power than they do about others. The exceptions die young.
Even at my most naive, I don't think I ever believed otherwise. I may be surprised by the technology and innovation of the worlds we visit, but I will never be surprised by human nature running its course.
Enough of that though, I've got several ideas running through my head on how to begin your array request and I need to put them to paper. I'll let you know when I've got something you can work with.

Your other ideas are not poor ones, they are just not what I am interested in for my purpose.
It was not meant to be censure of your skill.

It must be a pleasant fantasy they live in, if they expect others to fight fairly. Such a world does not exist for my people.
Physical is an exaggeration. However, you are correct in that it would annoy me.

In others —
