[If he had the presence of mind, Wei Ying would be embarrassed at Lan Zhan dressing him like he's a child. Instead, all he can feel is tired and grateful for the help. He does as instructed, leaning on Lan Zhan as necessary and not even trying to help, knowing how useless it would be. What feels like seconds later, he's dressed in warm clothes and Lan Zhan's fingers are stroking over his hair. He lets out a soft whine from the back of his throat, pushing greedily into the touch, and then he's being tucked under blankets, his entire body feeling like dead weight.
It takes a while once he's there for him to realize that Lan Zhan is gone and that he's alone again.
Did Lan Zhan leave? Did he forget to say goodbye? Did he say goodbye and Wei Ying didn't hear him?]
Lan Zhan? [His voice is quiet and weak, and he turns his head to the door when he realizes he can still hear noise in the apartment.]
[ He is rifling through the cabinets to get to the fever medication he 'helpfully' put away earlier when he hears the plaintive call. He momentarily panics, adrenaline still in high gear from the fall, grabbing all the pills and a glass which he half fills with water. He practically runs back to Wei Ying, water slopping almost over the sides of the glass. He surges around the doorframe to find Wei Ying looking feebly at him from the bed. ]
Wei Ying? Are you alright?
[ He pads across the room, then sits next to Wei Ying's prone form. When he realises nothing is wrong he puts the packets of medicine on the nearby nightstand and strokes Wei Ying's much less sweaty fringe back. ]
I am here, I will not leave you.
[ He pops two pills, holding them to Wei Ying's mouth and then holding his head up with one hand as he brings the water over to drink. When Wei Ying has swallowed, he smiles softly at him and makes sure he is tucked under the big blanket. Then he realises he is still dripping all over the bedspread from the shower and stands back up again, flushing. ]
I am just going to get dressed, then I will be back.
[Something in Wei Ying relaxes at the sight of his friend and he allows Lan Zhan to feed him the medication and water before catching his hand just before he leaves. Lan Zhan is still wet and dressed in very little and any other time, it's all he would be able to focus on, but now Wei Ying is only concerned with his words.]
You promise to come back? [It's a silly question and he feels guilty as soon as he's asked it. Lan Zhan always keeps his word, promise or not, and even if he didn't, he has no obligation to stay here with Wei Ying. He's being selfish. His cheeks flush at the thought and he lets go of Lan Zhan's hand, tucking his own arm back away under the blankets.]
[ A visible line of tension fades from Wei Ying's prone form as he melts into the bedsheets. He reminds Lan Zhan of a kitten, all soft and small in his illness. He wants to stroke Wei Ying's hair until he sleeps, which is where he draws the line and takes another step back from the bed. ]
I promise. I will just be in the bathroom, I will leave the door open.
[ If only for his peace of mind, he doesn't want Wei Ying to try and get out bed after this standing attempt has gone so poorly. He pulls the blanket Wei Ying is hiding under up to Wei Ying's chin and smooths out any crinkles in the fresh linen. ]
Call me if you need anything. I am happy to help you Wei Ying.
[ Truthfully, he wishes Wei Ying would ask for his help more often. He is getting to try all of his doting fantasies out, indulging himself in order to make Wei Ying feel better.
He cups Wei Ying's cheek with one large hand and then trails off to the bathroom, wincing at the sodden footsteps he had left in his haste. No matter, he will clean the carpet when Wei Ying is well.
Taking a few items of clean clothes, he steps into the bathroom and makes sure he can still hear Wei Ying if he calls out. ]
[Reassured, Wei Ying settles back into the blankets, feeling heavy and tired but at least far more comfortable than before. His skin no longer sticks and pulls against his clothes and his sinuses at least have cleared from the steam of the shower. Warm and dry, he knows if he closes his eyes, he could probably pass out in a few moments, his body protesting the energy it had exerted eating and bathing, but he doesn't want to fall asleep yet.
Stubbornly forcing his eyes to stay open, he turns his head on the pillow, determinedly staring at the door in anticipation of Lan Zhan's return.
If he closes his eyes now, he's pretty sure the next time he opens them Lan Zhan will be long gone, and he resists sleep and waits, his gaze not wavering once.]
[ Changing with the door open is a novel experience at the best of times, now it's downright concerning. He feels very exposed but also reassured that he can hear everything Wei Ying does, but he does change as fast as he possibly can. He comes back to Wei Ying while slinging on a long sleeve T-shirt, deciding it's more important to be within arms reach than listen to rules of propriety. ]
Wei Ying.
[ He sighs when he sees the far too focused form lying in bed, their gazes meeting and locking into place. Wei Ying is blinking slower and slower, each one lasting longer and then he shakes his head toc clear it and refocus. ]
Wei Ying, rest.
[ Unable to help himself, once he is next to the bed he runs a hand over Wei Ying's too warm head, brushing back hair. He settles as close as he dares, fully prepared to offer whatever he can to help him. ]
["What do you need?" The words echo in his head, and his eyes find Lan Zhan's in between blinks, fever and exhaustion making his tongue loose and his words far too sincere.]
You. Just...just you. [Always Lan Zhan. What else could he possibly ever need? His head has gone fuzzy again and though there isn't any pain, he feels himself beginning to sink into the darkness again. Letting out a soft sound of protest, he reaches up with one arm, trying to find Lan Zhan and hold him close even as his eyes fall closed.]
[ These words could not be more sincere, but he can only try. ]
You have me. [ Lan Zhan whispers as he watches Wei Ying drop off, he catches the hand seeking him and presses it to his heart in hopes of soothing him. His other hand comes up and strokes Wei Ying's now fluffy hair back into place, then keeps doing it because it feels good. ]
You will always have me. [ He breathes, not wanting to disturb. He cannot let go without Wei Ying whining low in his throat, so he presses closer until they are sharing the same bed, almost the same pillow. He will wait until Wei Ying is deeply asleep before even attempting to leave, he doesn't want to upset him even if he is only going to the living room. But as he's here now, he feels each body part relax and his eyes closing for longer periods until he too, fades to sleep. ]
